75% off Clearance @ Target.com PLUS 10% off!

Target is having a HUGE clearance sale on their site right now. Many items are up to 75% off and in addition to that you can also get another 10% off using code
URTYJLI8. It seems that the 10% off code is working on everything across the site so now might be a good time to order other things (think consumables like diapers and formula!) as well.

GREAT tips on how to shop at Target!

Wisebread has some AWESOME tips on how to "permiter peruse" at Target. For those of you that haven't discovered the wonderful clearance deals at Target this article has lots of great info on how to find them and when you'll likely find the best prices.

The daily markdown schedule info is great. It can vary from store to store but most generally follow this method:

Monday - Electronics, Kids Clothing and Stationary (Cards, GiftWrap, etc.)
Tuesday - Domestics, Women's Clothing, Pets and Market (food items)
Wednesday - Men's Clothing, Toys, Lawn & Garden, Health and Beauty items
Thursday - House Wares, Lingerie, Sporting Goods, Shoes, Music / Movies, Books, Decor and Luggage
Friday - Auto, Cosmetics, Hardware, and Jewelry

The holiday markdown schedule for holiday related merchandise is great too:

50% off the day after holiday for three days
75% off the fourth day after holiday for three days
90% off the seventh day after holiday for 1-2 days

Head on over to read the article in full at Wisebread. You won't be disappointed and I'm sure it'll have you thinking a little differently about how you shop at Target next time!

Earn FREE gift cards and cash!

I'm realizing how easy it is to earn FREE money just from clicking or searching. Why not join in and get some of your own?

Swagbucks is a site that allows you to search the internet and earn swaggage (swag bucks). You can also sign up for offers (some of them FREE!), shop and even trade in your old cell phone to earn more bucks. Trade in your swagbucks for free gift cards and other great items. Check back here to my blog often for codes that give you free swagbucks!

Inboxdollars lets you earn CASH by reading emails (the main way I earn here), taking surveys and completing offers. You'll get a $5 sign-up bonus if you click here. :)

MyPoints is also great. I earn 95% of my points from them just by clicking on their emails. I've redeemed points for free gift cards to Target, CVS and Walgreens in the past. I have enough points right now to redeem for a $100 card somewhere but I just can't decide which gift card to get or if I should get a few $25 cards instead. I don't have a link to give you but if you send me your email I can send you a referral and you get 250 points for signing up that way otherwise you get 100pts when you open a new account without a referral.

Finally, there's YouData. It's a site you have to log into and then click on the ads. They send you payment via PayPal so it's cold, hard CASH for clicking! :)

These are the programs I use to earn my FREE gift cards and FREE cash. Gotta love it! :)

Anyway, just thought I'd share this CUTE idea. If you go to http://portablenorthpole.tv you can create a personalized video message from Santa for your little ones! We did this for Madeline earlier and she LOVED it!!! :)

Time "off" here

It's that time of the year but on top of the holidays my family has been going through an immense amount of stress thanks to an inappropriately handled situation. Those of you that know me well probably already know what I'm talking about. Those of you that don't, just know that you MUST do what is in the best interest of your children. A.L.W.A.Y.S.

With that said, I'd like to let you all know that while I'm not posting actively here I haven't forgotten about filling you in on all of the deals. I just need to concentrate on what's important right now.

Looking back on all of this I know that God has something bigger and better in store for us and He doesn't put you through something He doesn't think you can handle. ;)

You just gotta work through it

That's my motto for the week.

Last Saturday Christian and I took Madeline to a b-day party for one of her classmates at one of the inflatable/hoppity places. I enjoy taking her to the parties because I get to be social and have adult conversation while the kids play. Anyhow, the party started at 3pm. At 3:45ish someone came over and said we could go to the "room" where the party was. I was holding the baby so a friend carried the car seat while we walked over there. I walked in and WHOOSH! Did I mention I was holding the baby? In a VERY quick moment of "OMGosh" realizing I was going to fall I said to myself "it's the baby or me...it'll HAVE to be me." Please God, just don't let my baby get hurt in this fall.

Well, one leg goes out in front of me and then I fall HARD on my other leg which then goes out to the side and behind me. O.U.C.H. Thankfully, I held on to the baby tight and kept him upright so he didn't fall but O.M.Gosh. I can already see a bruise on my knee and it's swelling. Oh and my pride...it's bruised too since everyone saw me fall .

Yep, the floor was WET. Wetter than wet, really. They had mopped and there was NO "wet floor" sign thing. This COULD have been avoided!

To make my long story shorter, we decided that I needed to have it looked and x-rayed. My wonderful neighbor said she'd take me to urgent care while Terry took her daughter home with him, Madeline and the baby. Terry talked to the owner of the place and he all but told him for us to file suit. There was definitely some gross negligence here so I intend to do that. Why should WE have to pay for all of this?

If you're still with me, I'm sure you're wondering how my motto ties into this. They did x-rays but found no broken bones (yet...dr said it could take days for a fracture to show up??). The doctor sent me home on crutches and said to stay off of my feet. He told me all HE would recommend for pain is Tylenol and that I'd need to talk to the pediatrican for something stronger because I'm nursing. Lovely.

Hang tight kids...I'm getting there.

So let's recap...

Wet floor, no warning sign. I fell and hurt myself. Doctor decides I need to be on crutches. I have a 2-month old.

Does anyone see where I'm going with this?

Yep, I just gotta work through the pain. While the crutches were a great idea in theory, the reality is I have a 2-month old. I can't use crutches and carry him. I have to get in/out of the car and get HIM in/out of the car in the car seat. Tell me HOW I can do that while on crutches. So, out the window those things have gone...they're just really not an option. :( Luckily I have a very understanding friend who's our pediatrician and she called in something for the pain. I still hurt but at least I'm not hunched over and incapacitated. I mean I have things I HAVE to do, you know?

Sadly, I haven't been able to do any deals this week but I can tell you what I *would* do if I felt like doing all of the walking. I'll break it down by store...

If I don't get to that, I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

It's that time of the year again

Cool mornings, dew on the grass, Texas football, parties and the holidays approaching. Oh and sick kids. Yep, it's that time of the year.

Last Saturday we made a spontaneous decision to take Madeline to her first Texas football game. My dad was already taking Tandy but couldn't sell his other 2 tickets so he offered to let 3 of us go. Terry was too tired to go and had a lot of work he needed to do so he graciously offered to stay home and watch Christian so the kids and I could go with my dad. Needless to say, Madeline was AWESTRUCK by the entire experience!

She won a $10 Academy gift card on the way into the stadium by winning a bean-bag toss game. She got a free poster and wrote "Hi Christian" on it (I brought along a bag with markers and a coloring book to keep her entertained if it got "slow") so he could "see her on TV." She was floored that Bevo was real and completely entertained by all of the cheerleaders. Her first cheer competition is this weekend so it was neat to be able to take her to that AND see the national champion UCF cheerleaders to boot!

Saturday evening we went to a fall themed party at some friends' house out in Hutto. They had hayrides, a bonfire, movies on the barn and a TON of food! The kids had an absolute blast and didn't want to leave!

Tuesday morning Madeline woke up coughing up a storm. I'd noticed that one of the mothers from a girl in her class had posted on Facebook that her daughter was barking and had a fever so my gut was that Madeline most likely had croup. The bark is unmistakeable. She never ran fever but it's been a rough couple of days for her with all the coughing. She's back to "normal" as of yesterday evening so we sent her to school this morning. She was ready to go back because the playground is done. I was ready for her to go back because Christian doesn't sleep as much when she's home.

As for deals this week, well, it's been a doozy week having a kid home sick. I went out on Sunday with the intention of shopping the loss leaders at 4 different stores along with finding a juicer for Terry. It rained. It poured. I didn't have an umbrella. I did have the baby with me. Rain + baby in car seat = not good.

Anyway, I went to Sprouts Farmer's Market for the first time. I. am. in. love. It's like a mini Whole Foods meets Sun Harvest with great produce at even better prices! Avacados and grapefruits were 25c each, apples 2lbs for $1, oranges 77c/lb, grapes 69c/lb, etc. I'm telling you, I'm in love with their produce section. Their meat section looked pretty good and most of it looked all-natural/no antibiotic/organic. The prices on sale items there didn't seem too bad either. I got a TON of fresh produce, some banana chips, pecans (on sale for $4.99/lb...a STEAL!) and our new addiction, Pirate's Booty all for less than $30.00. All of this would've easily cost me double that at the grocery store!

Next I went to Super Target. There I got 12 cans of Hunt's tomato sauce for 20c. Total, not 20c each! They were on sale for 35c each and I had coupons from ConAgra's Recession Payback "game" that gave me $1 off any 3 Hunt's items so that made them less than 3c each! Not free like they would've been at Walgreen's last week but I can deal with dirt cheap. I also picked up a few Halloween items that were 90% off.

Randall's was the last store I hit before Terry called and insisted I come home. I'd been gone over 3hrs and he claimed the kids were missing me. There I scored some good deals on meat on clearance. I got a huge family pack of pork chops for $6, a 5lb roast for $4, over 3lbs of smoked sausage on a stick for $6 and a pork roast for just under $5. I did the deal where if you bought $25 worth of participating products you got $5 towards your next purchase. We needed several things that were on that list of items and a lot of them had peelies on them making them an even better deal. I won't bore you with the list of items I got but my total before coupons at Randall's was $123.xx and after it was $63.xx and I got a $5 catalina to use on my next purchase so over 50% savings.

I met Terry for lunch on Tuesday and Madeline and I stopped at Target on the way home to get her "something small" at Terry's request. I wound up getting 2 tubs of Target brand baby wipes, a pack of Luv's diapers, 5 Glade candles and a few other things for $12.84 but I got a $5 gift card for buying 5 of the candles so $7.84 net. We also got the Barbie Three Muskateers and Barbie Christmas Carol DVD's for $10.80. For both. :) Both of these movies are in the Toys R Us Big Wish book on sale for $9.99 each. Target will price match. There's a $5 off Target coupon for the Three Muskateers movie and a $5 peelie on the movie to use if you buy it along with 1 of several other Barbie movies so the math works like this:
Barbie Three Muskateers DVD $14.99 <> adjusted to $9.99
Barbie Christmas Carol DVD $12.99 <> adjusted to $9.99
Minus $5 Target coupon
Minus $5 peelie (on the 3 Muskateers DVD) for buying both movies
$9.98+tax WOOHOO!

That's going to do it for today. Thursdays are rough for me with all of the afterschool stuff going on. Til next time...

My how life has changed!

Has it been over a year since I last blogged? I guess so looking at the date of my last post. How embarassing!

But I have good reasons. :)

First and foremost, I am now a mother of 3. After a long and hard pregnancy and a failed induction attempt the week before he was actually born, we welcomed Christian into the world on September 1st. He is an absolute blessing to say the least. Tandy and Madeline are head over heels over this baby and it just melts my heart to see them enjoying him so much.

Because the pregnancy was so hard on me physically (suffered from HG the entire time again) I had to focus what energy I did have on the more important things like the kids and the house so needless to say, my bargain shopping trips came to a screeching halt.

In the midst of all of this we were trying to finish the house to get it on the market and I'm happy to report that we accomplished that too! We are so happy with the progress and the way the house looks. Now we're just waiting for someone to fall in love with it like we did over 5 years ago. We've had some interest and been on the short list a couple of times but no formal offers.

The original plan was we'd take the house off the market sometime this month and then put it back on in February because I honestly didn't want to deal with having to keep it spotlessly clean over the holidays but with Congress passing the extension on the $8k first-time homebuyer's tax credit AND adding a $6.5k tax credit for those buying a house who've been in their current home at least 5 years I think it's time to reconsider. This has been MUCH harder than I ever imagined it being!

The kids are back in school and doing well. Tandy was selected to participate in the Duke University 7th grade Talent Search program and was recently taken out of his regular math class and put into a pre-algebra (what 8th grade is supposedly doing) class. Last year he'd "placed out" of 6-7th grade math based on the placement testing they administered but because the school is small and they only had 3 core subject teachers they didn't bother with seeing if he could ace the 8th grade placement since they couldn't work around his subject blocks. Anyway, they hired a new PE coach and he's teaching Tandy and one other girl from 7th grade (who's an absolute angel) while the rest of the class goes to their regular math. He's also decided to participate in the PSIA competition so that will keep him busy when his schoolwork doesn't. Basketball will start here soon too.

Madeline is in kindergarten this year. She was sad that some of her friends from pre-k didn't return to the school but has enjoyed making new friends. In addition to doing Kumon she's on a cheerleading team and has also been taking private lessons. Their first competition is coming up on the 15th and she's SUPER excited about that! She's asked if she can take swimming lessons again and learn to play the violin but I think for now she has us (mainly me since I'm the one that drives her around everywhere) stretched pretty thin for now so we'll have to think about doing those later.

So, back to the subject...

The holidays are just around the corner. Can you believe Thanksgiving is in just 3 weeks? Christmas will be rolling in before we know it! Heck, Target has been putting out Christmas merchandise for a few weeks now! Yowzers!

Well, speaking of Target, I thought I'd let you know that once again, Target has their lovely Toy Book chock-full of wonderful coupons available again. Rumor has it that the book will not be available in-store but the good news is you can print the coupons right at home which means you can print as many as you want! Here's a link to the coupons for you: Target Toy Coupons. Now, before you get all print-happy let me warn you. There are 15 (yes, FIFTEEN) pages of coupons so you might want to figure out which ones you want to print and take advantage of the settings on your printer to print only the ones you want.

There's an INCREDIBLE deal on Wii games at Target going on this week. All the games priced $49.99 or less are buy 2 get 1 free. Combine this sale with the $10/2 Wii games coupon and you can get 6 games for as little as $29.96 plus tax . How do you do that you ask? Here's the deal...

Buy 6 games priced at $14.99 each = $89.94
Use 3 $10/2 Wii games coupon = -$30.00
Buy 2 games get 1 free = -$29.98 (2 x $14.99)
Total = $29.96 + tax

Now that is some DIRT cheap Wii games! Look at that math! That's less than $5 each before tax! GREAT for stocking stuffers if you ask me!

While you're at Target, their Halloween stuff is all on clearance. Hubby saw the 75% off signs and went a little crazy yesterday. My thought was I know that it'll go to 90% eventually and we really don't NEED this stuff (nor do we really have a place to put it right now) so I'm seriously considering taking a lot of it back. If I wasn't so tired right now I'd hit another store or two in search of more Tootsie Rolls. At $.63 cents a bag that's cheaper than the dollar store and Sam's. Considering the number of these things I eat now, well, cheap is best. ;-)

This week at Walgreens I'm stocking up on soup and tomato sauce (I'll buy Tootsie Rolls on clearance there too). The Campbell's chicken noodle and tomato soup is 2/$1 this week and there's a $1/2 printable which makes them free. Hunt's tomato sauce is on sale 3/$1 and there's a $1/3 internet printable which also makes them free.

Well, that's going to do it for my deals for today. I have plenty more coming later. Thursdays are my crazy day so I've got to get a nap in...
